PC GUIDES & ADVICE

What PC suits you? A practical buying guide

AX TECH CO.

Find your PC direction

Tell us how you will use your PC. Get a starting direction, then discuss a tailored build.

Planning guidance only. Final parts, compatibility, availability and price are confirmed in your quote.

The right PC starts with what you want to do—not the longest list of specifications. Use this guide to plan your priorities, then ask AX Tech Co for a build quote that fits your needs.

What will you use your PC for?

Everyday use & study

Browsing, documents, online classes and video calls. Prioritise a responsive SSD, enough memory for your usual multitasking, reliable connectivity and a comfortable screen. A separate graphics card may be unnecessary if the processor has suitable integrated graphics.

Work & multitasking

Spreadsheets, business applications and several windows at once. List your software and check its requirements. Think about memory capacity, monitor connections, quiet cooling and backup arrangements.

Gaming

Start with the games you play, your monitor resolution and the frame rates you hope to achieve. Balance the graphics card and processor around that target. The same PC can behave differently across games and graphics settings.

Creative work

Photo editing, video, 3D or design. Your applications, project sizes and workflow determine the balance of processor, graphics, memory and storage. Check current recommended specifications from the software developer before selecting parts.

Plan the whole budget

Tell us your budget in AUD and whether it covers the tower only or the complete setup. Allow for a monitor, keyboard, mouse, audio, software licences, assembly and any agreed delivery. A balanced system is usually more useful than spending nearly everything on one headline component.

Spend on what you will notice.

For example, a comfortable monitor matters for long study sessions, while a gaming system should be planned around its display and games. RGB lighting is an appearance preference, not a measure of performance.

Desktop, laptop or upgrade?

  • Desktop: a useful option when you work in one place and want flexibility in components and cooling. Upgrade options depend on the exact platform and case.
  • Laptop: consider portability, battery life and course or workplace requirements if you need to carry your computer.
  • Upgrade: suitable when an existing computer can meet your needs with a focused change. Check compatibility, condition and the total cost against replacing it.

Think beyond the tower

Measure your desk space. Check Wi-Fi or wired networking, monitor ports, USB needs, noise preferences and ventilation. Tell us about peripherals or parts you already own, including exact model names where possible.

What to send with your quote request

  • Your total budget in AUD and what it includes.
  • Your main uses, games and software.
  • Your monitor resolution and any performance goals.
  • Existing parts, peripherals and their model names.
  • Case size, noise, appearance and connectivity preferences.
  • Your location for discussing handover and any target date.

Share these details through our Contact page. Do not include passwords or payment information. The PC build service is quoted individually; parts, labour, timing and delivery are confirmed before proceeding.
